Is it possible to fall in love through letters only? Many think so and others doubt it. Some people take a chance, hoping to find true love but others aren’t interested in a long distance relationship.

In Edith and the Mysterious Stranger, there is romance, adventure, and mystery. Edith is a nurse and moves to Idaho to take care of her cousin. Edith has wonderful qualities but never gives a man a second chance because her expectations are so high. However, all that changes when a mysterious stranger starts writing to her. For the first time, she gets to know a man’s inner soul before making any harsh judgments. Whoever he is, this man is a mystery and the best thing that has ever happened to her. The question that puzzles her is whether or not he is as wonderful in person as he is in his letters.

Little Miss Molly Book Reviews enjoyed reading a book where the romance begins with letters. She wrote: “My favorite part of the story is how Edith falls in love slowly through letters. The stranger makes Edith question her actions toward men and how she’s never really given men much of a chance. Then, on Halloween the mysterious stranger makes a quick appearance and he kisses her senseless. I was thinking about that scene for the rest of the book!”

Those who enjoy a story that uplifts and makes you smile, this historical romance achieves that effect. When a reviewer from the Amherst Bee Newspaper of Buffalo, New York read this story, she wrote: “Clarke draws the reader into a world full of color and intrigue right from the first page. The end is uplifting. I would highly recommend Edith and the Mysterious Stranger to anyone looking for a novel that just makes you feel good.”

Does the story of a couple getting to know one another through letters achieve the sweet romance that historical romance lovers are looking for? Wendy Cleveland of Reader Views wrote: “The Power of the Written Word -- this is the life lesson I took away from Linda Weaver Clarke’s book Edith and the Mysterious Stranger. I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in a good inspirational read from beginning to end. You won’t be disappointed.”
