The Acceptance of Society for Mens Bracelets

Posted October 16, 2012 by LizaPR

Men’s jewellery was always considered as an oxymoron. However, the picture flipped, and jewellery became really favorite among men.

16th October 2012 - Mens Bracelets are becoming the “in” thing for today. The New York Times, in its article, said that the proper term for such bracelets is “wristwear”. New York magazine, on the other hand, traced its history from the ID military bracelets to the rubber charity band to the metal and leather charms being popularized by Tateossian, Luis Morais, and Miansai.
With sales on the upswing, Mr. Porter’s Buying Director Toby Bateman, said that sales of these bracelets for men are spiraling recently and these bracelets are often seen worn stacked by various attendees during the last Fashion Week.
The Women’s Response to the Current Bracelet Trend
Now that men are also wearing bracelets, which have been considered women’s jewelry, it is interesting to know the reactions of women on this phenomenon. Women, on the general, are initially caught off guard by the transformation. Anya Hindmarch, a women’s designer, isn’t elated at all with men wearing bracelets. For her, a wedding or signet ring is better for men than bracelets. Tamara Mellon, founder of Jimmy Choo, said that a man can wear a little jewelry but wearing too much is not ok. The more important question, however, is that do men really care what women think? Although there are men who wouldn’t be caught wearing men’s bracelets, there are “real” men who would like to experiment.
A Fashion Statement for Men
Although a lot of men don’t follow fashion trends, it is surprising that more and more men are wearing layered men’s bracelets as their fashion statement. Not only that, they’re wearing these bracelets with too much flair. In the past, men can only be seen wearing a wedding ring and a watch. There are even men who don’t wear any accessory. However, with the current fuzz on men’s bracelets, men from various cultures and social strata are seen wearing at least one bracelet. There are, however, men who want to stack bracelets in one wrist. These men take inspiration from the likes of Johnny Depp and Kanye West. What’s surprising is that those who wear bracelets don’t just come from the creative types but also from the most laidback types. For the latter type of men, they choose to wear a simple rope, hemp, or leather bracelet.
Men’s bracelets are definitely making a fashion statement and a lot of men are joining the bandwagon. Today, bracelets no longer belong to women. They are for men also.
