Established workplace safety training institute in British Columbia gets stamp of approval by North America’s biggest business review agency.

British Columbia—12-Mar-2022: Rising cases of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 is weighing down the Canadian healthcare system, and medical experts fear after-effects of overburdened hospitals will be felt for the months that follow. At the beginning of 2022, the state announced postponed surgeries of “non-emergency” health problems like cancer, a cut in outpatient care services, and an increased relocation of healthcare workers to emergency wards in certain regions.

Since January 2022, according to the province’s paramedics union, nearly half of the ambulances in British Columbia remain unmanned, unable to respond to 911 emergency calls. Due to COVID-19 infections, ongoing staffing issues at the emergency level, long waiting periods for the arrival of an ambulance, and injuries at the workplace—emergency services have taken a toll.

In February, the Provincial Health Officer (PHO) updated the order on workplace safety in British Columbia, allowing the transition of employees back into their workplaces. Previously, the order mandated that employees must work from their homes. All provincial jurisdictions in Canada require workplaces to provide first aid training to current employees, however, despite the pandemic crisis, many small and medium scaled businesses have not been able to comply.

To aid the process of emergency relief and remove some burden from the healthcare system, Metro Safety Training underwent evaluations by the Better Business Bureau, North America’s largest business reviewing network, and secured the BBB accreditation, indicating that the training institution is one that values transparency, integrity and works on the principle of always prioritizing its clients.

“The stats show many workplaces are still hesitant to fully comply with the law on workplace first aid. Every office must have a first aid kit, a first-aid attendant and safety training, but this hasn’t been the case with everyone. This is troubling, especially given the circumstances. We understand looking for a reliable instructor is a daunting task, so Metro Safety Training has found a way to reassure people that we deliver what we promise to,” a representative from the institution comments on Metro Safety Training’s BBB accreditation status.
In the midst of the healthcare crisis, forgoing workplace safety is a threat to life in addition to costing organizations hefty costs on medical care. Metro Safety Training hopes to continue to encourage as many businesses in British Columbia as they can to avail first aid training and resources at the earliest.
