Wikie is a simple dynamic encyclopaedia that gives you Wikipedia articles in a simple format easy enough for a second-grade student to grasp. It provides concise information and it is also simple and safe for children to use.

Today, we live in a fast-moving world where people want information at the click of a button. In the world of information overload, many a time people need information in a concise form. When it comes to information, in general, Wikipedia is a great source for everyone. We all love Wikipedia. However, Wikipedia articles are typically extensive and too difficult to comprehend especially for children. Even the simplified Wikipedia articles are difficult for an early primary student to grasp. This adds to the fact that most internet articles are not child friendly.

Enter Wikie. Wikie is a simple dynamic encyclopaedia that gives you Wikipedia articles in a simple format easy enough for a second-grade student to grasp. It summarizes Wikipedia articles into two simple English sentences easy for a child to understand. The beta version of Wikie is now available for the public online on www.wikie.click

Wikie has an impressive summarization algorithm. For example, the main Wikipedia article for Michael Jackson yields over 14 000 words while its simplified article has over 5 000 words. Wikie summarizes the main article in only 22 words in 2 sentences enough to highlight the essence of a Wikipedia article. Currently Wikie is available in English, Spanish and French. After the success of the beta trials, Wikie is expected to be available in some major languages available on Wikipedia.
