May 31'2016, Pune, Maharashtra: MITSOE&R is a prestigious teacher training institute with branches in Pune and several other areas of Maharashtra. On October 5' 2015, on the occasion of World Teacher's Day, MIT School of Education & Research arranged an inauguration as well as induction program for B. Ed. It was done to introduce the students to the B. Ed curriculum.
At the program, Dr. Sulbha Deshpande, the Principal of the Institute, addressed the students on the importance of setting good example for the students with practice of good values. She advised the soon-to-be-teachers to inculcate values of discipline, punctuality, etc. in themselves first if they wanted their students to do the same.
Dr. Deshpande also added that although the duration of the B. Ed course has been increased to two years, it would be an exciting time for the students. She mentioned that the syllabus and class activities have been planned to provide education in a fun and interesting manner due to the new teaching-learning methods adapted by MITSOE&R.
After the speech by the Principal, the students were given a briefing of the syllabus by Ms. Shalini Tonpe and a library orientation by Mr. Avdoot Kulkarni. Ms. Manjiri Dhere, Assistant Professor, was the one who anchored for the entire program.
B. Ed is one of the most important teacher training courses in India that makes it possible for a person to teach in schools. This course, which was earlier a one year course, has now become a two-year program. At MITSOE&R, teachers are trained in specific subjects and are also given information on different teaching skills that are required to take a class for different standards.
