The Town Hall
A must-visit place, The Town Hall, located in Market Place, was built on the site of the former town hall, which was built in 1612. The former town hall had become so ruined by 1858 that it was decided to hold a competition to design a new building. The old structure was demolished, and the new structure, designed by Poulton and Woodman (Reading architects), was dedicated in 1860 by Richard Neville, the fourth Lord Braybrooke.

Transport

Rose Street still has some houses associated with the silk industry. Wokingham was dominated by the silk industry until the early nineteenth century when trade declined due to cheap French imports.
