The CEO of a digital recruitment service said his group is looking forward to the possible massive expansion of green jobs.

As a UK-based non-profit organisation estimates that hundreds of thousands of jobs in renewable energy and the green sector could be created with the right private investment and support from the government, the CEO of a digital recruitment service said his group is looking forward to the possible massive expansion of green jobs.

“This is exactly why we decided to launch our online jobs board, and the inevitability we’ve been gearing up for,” said Joseph Boll, CEO of EcoCareers.org. “The world is moving towards more sustainability and embracing greener ways of doing business. There has been a massive expansion of jobs and opportunities in renewable energy in the United States, and that trend is certainly catching on in the United Kingdom and abroad.”

EcoCareers.org is a digital talent acquisition service, online jobs board and resource website for all jobs in sustainability, whether traditional green jobs like solar panel technicians or environmental scientists to jobs in industries that are newer to sustainability, like fashion and manufacturing. EcoCareers.org seeks to connect employers, hiring managers and HR personnel in the green sector with jobseekers and the top talent in their respective industries. It was just recently launched, with the aim to help address a labour shortage within the green sector space.

Boll noted that in the United States, recently passed legislation — namely, the Inflation Reduction Act — is expected to help create hundreds of thousands of sustainable jobs in the USA in the coming months alone.

“This is a great thing,” Boll said, “but it could exacerbate the labour gap that already exists in renewable energy and sustainable jobs, which is why resources like EcoCareers.org are needed to help bridge jobseekers and employers. The UK could soon catch up to those projections too, if more investment in renewables ultimately leads to the thousands more jobs that it has the potential to.”

The CEO referred to recent recommendations made by NPO RenewableUK to the government, which estimated that over 100,000 green sector jobs could be created across the UK with proper support from the government. Some officials have already responded favourably to those suggestions, heightening the possibility that the UK will catch up to the USA where the rapid expansion of the renewable sector is concerned.

“If that comes to pass, and we hope it does, EcoCareers will be prepared to help ensure skilled individuals who are keen to join the sector will be connected with the best possible job opportunities accordingly,” Boll said.
