With Jobseekers Snubbing In-Person Work, Online Recruitment Needed More Than Ever

New data has indicated that not only are current employees prioritizing remote or flexible work arrangements, but jobseekers are increasingly forgoing jobs that do not offer this altogether.

It’s long been noted that remote work is the top “perk” workers want out of their jobs in a post-COVID environment, topping even salary. However, new data has indicated that not only are current employees prioritizing remote or flexible work arrangements, but jobseekers are increasingly forgoing jobs that do not offer this altogether. This trend indicates an increasing need for online talent acquisition services and job board websites like RemoteWorker.jobs.

Competition among recruiters and employers has already been stiff considering labour shortages and the tension between the demand for versus the availability of remote work. But with prospective employees beginning to completely ignore job postings that fail to mention remote work, those stakes could be raised even higher.

Remote Worker is an online jobs board and resource website for remote workers, remote work jobseekers, and hiring managers, employers and HR personnel seeking to recruit and hire the top talent for remote positions. Its CEO, Joseph Boll, says the trend of jobseekers only applying for remote positions is expected to continue well into the future.

“A number of factors already have experts predicting that those remote workers who were called back to office will be sent home again,” the CEO notes.

Such factors include an anticipated increase in fuel costs, which could drive costs up for businesses renting or owning physical locations. Additionally, COVID cases are, unfortunately, on the rise. This could lead to greater safety concerns, which could in turn mean a mass return to remote work.

Boll adds, “On top of this, the immense popularity of remote work among workers, most of whom relished the benefit of better work-life balance and flexibility, has shown no signs of slowing down. It’s reasonable to expect more remote jobs to be made available in the future, and this is where platforms like Remote Worker can help those both seeking remote jobs and seeking to hire for remote jobs find their best match.”

According to Monster, one of the leading employment websites in the world, an estimated 32 percent of jobseekers snub job listings that do not offer remote work or some form of flexibility. Further, 59 percent of employers hiring for remote or hybrid positions rank a candidate’s overall quality and ability to quickly join the company over a candidate’s proximity or ability to work in-person if needed.
