HAIR TRANSPLANT
Hair Transplant Treatment is a surgical technique that removes hair follicles from one part of the body, called the ‘donor site’, to a bald or balding part of the body known as the ‘recipient site’. Hair transplant Treatment is a technique primarily used to treat male pattern baldness. In this minimally invasive procedure, grafts containing hair follicles that are genetically resistant to balding (like the back of the head) are transplanted to the bald scalp. The follicular unit hair transplant procedure being ever evolving, it has become more refined and minimally invasive as the size of the graft incisions has become smaller. These smaller and less invasive incisions have enabled surgeons to plant a larger number of follicular unit grafts into a given area.

At an initial consultation, the surgeon gets to know about the patient’s scalp. After the surgeon gets to know the exact requirements and expectations of the patient, the surgeon advices the patient about how many sessions would be required as well as what could be the possible and reasonable yield. To proceed with the grafting, a surgeon needs to know about the actual density of existing hair. For this purpose, Pre-operative Folliscopy test is done to know about the existing hair density and get an idea of post-operative results of hair transplant and assess them effectively. A patient is told not to use some specific medicines before the grafting procedure because the medicines might affect the treatment, might result into intraoperative bleeding and result into a poor grafting. Alcohol and smoking can contribute to poor graft survival. Post operative antibiotics are commonly prescribed to prevent wound or graft infections. Post grafting, patients are told to do shampooing a day after or two days after the procedure. Because of shampooing, scabs do not develop causing any harm to the newly grafted hair. Also, sun exposure must be avoided to the scalp for some days.
