Facemasks became our protective gear and also the most important part of our clothing

India faced an acute shortage of medical gear when initially hit by the first wave of the Pandemic.
The country was struggling with resources in arranging enough medical aid and kits.
That's when the fashion Industry came forward to fight the pandemic and support #makeinIndia and made a huge success by making fabric masks for protection.
NITYA BAJAJ is proud to share that we were one of the pioneers who introduced and supported the same!
The brand encouraged the public to wear fabric facemasks for protection and leave the medical masks like N95 for the medical professionals and frontline warriors.
Adding to our zero wastage policy at Nitya Bajaj, we re-used excess fabric and recycled fabric scraps to upcycle 3 ply quilted, handcrafted facemasks which were comfortable, lined with silk, washable and re-usable.
Soon Nitya Bajaj facemasks, became the most sought after accessory in India and abroad and was popularly trending as #NBFacemasks on social media platforms.
With the overwhelming response, the brand was encouraged to donate facemasks to the needy and underprivileged in India and ended up donating more than 2300 facemasks to medical students, cleaners, police officers on duty, women and children on the roads in New Delhi.
This also gave our daily wage workers job security and helped us to support our artisans.
All sales proceeds from the same went to support #savingtheartist campaign where we raised funds and created employment opportunities for our workers.
Recognising our initiative, we soon saw #NBFacemasks ranked number 5 amongst the leading luxury mask designer brands like Louis Vuitton, Chanel and OffWhite by The Times of India Digital Platform.
