If you’re making changes owing to switching from any old email configuration, for example, bad POP settings, you will be changing your BigPond email server settings in Outlook. To do this, launch Outlook and press the “File” tab. Then in your “Account Information,” pick the account that you wish to update and click on the “Account Settings” option.
Select your BigPond email account from the list and click on “Change.” Now you can modify your incoming and outgoing server settings. If you’re switching to IMAP, the incoming mail server should be imap.telstra.com with the port set at 993 with SSL encryption. POP should be set to pop.telstra.com using a port of 995 with SSL. Your outgoing mail server should be smtp.telstra.com, and the ports used should be 465 or 587 with SSL encryption enabled.
Make certain that your username is your full BigPond email address and that the password entered is correct. Then press “Next.” Once the tests are done, Outlook will be able to implement those settings into the configuration. If Outlook is able to complete the test and finish, make sure to press the “Finish” button to confirm your actions. Overall, this configuration will ensure BigPond emails are running in Outlook seamlessly.
