HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited organizes two-day National Level ‘Safety Conclave’ in partnership with Oil Industry Safety Directorate (OISD)

Oil Industry Safety Directorate (OISD) in partnership with HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited (HMEL) organized a two-day National Safety Conclave 2023 from 4-5 December at Guru Gobind Singh Refinery, Bathinda.

 
Bathinda: Oil Industry Safety Directorate (OISD) in partnership with HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited (HMEL) organized a two-day National Safety Conclave 2023 from 4-5 December at HMEL Township, Bathinda. Divided into five technical sessions, the National Safety Conclave saw leaders and delegates from various oil and gas sector leaders from across the country sharing their experiences on "Safety in the Era of Intricacies, Massiveness, Globalization, and Digitalization".
While delivering the Keynote Address, Mr. M K Surana, CEO, Ratnagiri Refinery & Petrochemical Limited and former Chairman, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited and HMEL, emphasized that irrespective of the change in the external environment, the key to safety is the collective mindset, intent and conditioning of the people within the organization who make Safety the foundation of business excellence. He also presented the safety recommendations of the High-Level Committee on Safety Framework in the Indian Petroleum Sector. Mr. Surana said that as industries evolve and technology advances, it becomes imperative to adopt and incorporate cutting-edge solutions that enhance safety protocols. Reduce risk and promote a culture of sustainability and safe practices.
Delivering the Theme Address, Mr. Arun Mittal, Executive Director, Oil Industry Safety Directorate (OISD), apprised that as the competent authority to oversee the implementation of safety measures in the petroleum sector, OISD has taken many steps to encourage knowledge exchange among the players at the same time has taken the pragmatic step to conduct organization-wide safety audits of oil corporations to suggest suitable improvements.
During his Special Address, Mr. Prabh Das, MD&CEO, HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited (HMEL) said that, "It is important to make safety a personal habit and begin by implementing it right at our homes and carry the same value at the workplace.” He welcomed all the delegates and encouraged them to explore the various religious and historic places in Bathinda.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Mr. A S Basu, COO, HMEL, reinforced HMEL’s commitment to the '3P's'—People, Plant, and Processes—as the core pillars of our operation, ensuring the safety procedures in the oil and gas industry are more than guidelines; they are the essence of our practice.
Executive Directors, Senior Functionaries, Safety practitioners from leading oil corporations such as Indian Oil, ONGC, HPCL, Reliance, Nayara Energy, etc forged innovative safety strategies that align with the demands of globalization and digital transformation. Through this conclave, HMEL reaffirms its commitment to setting new benchmarks in industrial safety and sustainability that will redefine safety paradigms in the industry.
About HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited (HMEL)
HMEL is a joint venture between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and Mittal Energy Investment Pte Ltd, Singapore – part of the Lakshmi N Mittal Group.
