London-based oculoplastic surgeon, Pari Shams, is pleased to announce the provision of expert treatment for congenital ptosis. This condition, characterised by drooping of the upper eyelid, can affect vision and appearance from birth. With advanced techniques and personalised care, Pari Shams aims to improve the quality of life for patients with this condition.
Congenital ptosis is often caused by underdevelopment or dysfunction of the levator muscle responsible for lifting the eyelid. Left untreated, it can lead to amblyopia (lazy eye) or astigmatism, impacting a child's vision development. Pari Shams utilises cutting-edge surgical methods to correct this condition, ensuring optimal functional and aesthetic outcomes.
“Our mission is to provide comprehensive and compassionate care for patients with congenital ptosis,” says Pari Shams, Consultant oculoplastic surgeon. “By offering advanced treatment options, we can address both the visual and cosmetic concerns associated with this condition, helping patients lead healthier and more confident lives.”
Pari Shams' approach to treating congenital ptosis begins with a detailed consultation and thorough examination. This allows for an accurate diagnosis and the development of a customised treatment plan tailored to the patient’s specific needs. Parents and guardians are involved in every step to ensure a supportive and informed decision-making process.
The surgical procedure for congenital ptosis typically involves tightening the levator muscle or reattaching it to improve eyelid function. In cases where the levator muscle is severely deficient, alternative techniques such as frontalis sling surgery may be employed. These methods are designed to achieve a natural and symmetrical appearance while enhancing the patient's vision.
Recovery from congenital ptosis surgery is generally smooth, with children resuming normal activities within a few weeks. Pari Shams provides detailed post-operative care instructions and schedules follow-up appointments to monitor healing and ensure the best possible results. The supportive care continues until the child’s recovery is complete.
Pari Shams has earned a reputation for excellence in oculoplastic surgery, combining medical expertise with a patient-centred approach. The clinic’s state-of-the-art facilities and use of the latest surgical techniques ensure that patients receive the highest standard of care. This comprehensive range of services allows patients to receive all necessary care under one roof, ensuring continuity and quality of treatment.
Parents of children with congenital ptosis often report significant improvements in their child’s vision and appearance following surgery. The correction of drooping eyelids not only enhances the child’s visual field but also boosts their self-esteem and social interactions. These positive changes underscore the importance of early and effective treatment.
Pari Shams is dedicated to advancing the field of oculoplastic surgery through ongoing research and the adoption of innovative techniques. By staying at the forefront of medical advancements, the clinic ensures that patients benefit from the most effective and up-to-date treatments available.
The clinic’s commitment to patient education is evident in the thorough consultations and clear communication provided throughout the treatment process. Parents and guardians are equipped with the knowledge needed to understand their child’s condition and make informed decisions about their care.
