Master Certified Coach or MCC is the highest level of credentialing provided by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) that sets coaches up to embark on self-discovery and leverage their competencies into their desired goals. A Master Certified Coach is highly trained in the ICF’s Code of Ethics, Core Competencies, and well-refined coaching techniques. This highest level of credentialing by ICF uniquely qualifies the coaches to dig beneath a client’s surface-level concerns and reveal their true potential. An MCC coach gains the ability to coach a person as a whole and demonstrate the knowledge and highly proficient application of the ICF’s core competencies, code of ethics, and definition of coaching.
To become a Master Certified Coach, a coach should have completed 200 hours of coach-specific training, and possess at least 2,500 hours of client-coaching experience. Additionally, the mentee coach should have completed 10 hours of mentor coaching, and pass through both knowledge and performance assessments at the Master Certified Coach level. Only a PCC (Professional Certified Coach) can apply for MCC credentialing from the ICF.
Developing a coach’s awareness of self

Synchronous and Asynchronous coaching
75 hours of comprehensive coaching for Master Certified Coach is provided by Jennifer Powers over a period of 22 weeks, which includes 39 Synchronous Hours delivered virtually via Zoom, and 36 Asynchronous Hours. The synchronous sessions for Master Certified Coach are super-focused on understanding, embodying, and practicing ICF’s eight core competencies. The sessions include a combination of instructions, facilitated discussions, coaching practice, and feedback. The program for Master Certified Coach includes the required 7 hours of group mentor coaching and three hours of one-to-one coaching. 36 Asynchronous Hours include a combination of coaching, being coached, journaling, independent reading, plus listening to and reviewing a variety of MCC-level coaching sessions.
Deeping diving into coaching competencies
Students create a community outside of live sessions and share their findings via the online classroom discussion forum. They are paired with a buddy with whom they can find support, practice, and discuss outside of class. All course material is delivered in English, and sessions are of 90 minutes duration each, except the four 2-hour Practice Clinics. The first eight weeks of Master Certified Coach training will focus on eight ICF core competencies. In weeks 9 and 14, the mentee coaches will deep dive into the coaching competencies. Afterward, the focus will be on peer coaching, self-development, observed coaching, and make-up classes.
