Major Changes

These are the global changes in Bootstrap 4

Switch from Less to Sass for the source CSS files.
Switched from px to rem as the primary CSS unit.
Media queries are now in ems instead of pxs.
Global font-size increased from 14px to 16px.

Things to be remember before migrating bootstrap version 3 to version 4

Bootstrap Source Code

Bootstrap 3 source codes incorporate the precompiled CSS, JavaScript, and font assets, along with source Less, JavaScript, and documentation. On the other hand bootstrap 4, source less was replaced with Sass files due to its migration.

Class Changes and Updates

There are some few changes in class between both the versions.

Tables Contextual Classes

Bootstrap 3 used contextual class to put some background color on table. But Bootstrap 4,added .table-* prefix on each contextual classes.

Table Condensed Renamed

For making the table more compact, Bootstrap 3 uses .table-condensed class. In Bootstrap 4 .table-sm is uses for consistency.

Form Classes

There are major changes in form classes i.e. .input-lg and .input-sm classes are replaced by .form-control-lg and .form-control-sm and dropping the .form-group-*.
