The exciting London show Miss Saigons original production was closed at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane almost fifteen years back. The epic musical by Boublil and Schonberg is all set to make a grand return at the London Westend once again. The incredible musical is inspired from the famous opera Madame Butterfly and set against the backdrop of Vietnam War.

The heart tocuhing love saga of Miss Saigon revolves around an American Gi and a Vietnamese bar girl. Love blossoms between the two against the such an unsettled backdrop. In the year 1989, the musical made its debut for the first time under the superb direction of Nicholas Hytner. The award winning show was renonwed for its grand size and scale.

The original set was designed by John Napier where a helicopter was descended on the stage during the dramatic fall of Saigon. For almost 4000 performances, the original production ran successfully with packed houses. This is still currently the longest running show at the Theatre Royal, where it ran for almost a decade.

On Brodway, Miss Saigon was a great success and gained biggest advance of a musical at the time. Johnathan Pryce and Lea Salonga featured in the original production. Both the actors won prestigious Olivier and Tony award for their sensational performances. The show was set just before the fall of Saigon in the year 1975.
