Dr. Gregory Echt explains the staging of Prostate Cancer.

Irving, Texas - December 19, 2019 – The grading of prostate cancer dictates how severe disease is likely to be and the likelihood of it escalating beyond the prostate. Staging of prostate cancer majors at the size of the area affected. It can be by disease and how far cancer may have spread out both within the prostate and beyond. The grade of the tumor together with the stage of cancerhelp doctors figure outthe best course of treatment.

“After initial blood tests, a biopsy is done to affirm the diagnosis. Using a sample of tissue from the prostate, a pathologist assesses the sample using a microscope. The pathologist is looking for cell patterns to see if cancer is evident, and if so, what the level or grade of abnormality it is,” explains Dr. Echt.

Tumor Growth Stages
They are in two general categories:

Localized –
Stage I or A or T1: Tumors are not visible under a diagnosis.

Stage II or B or T2: At this stage, the tumors can be seen under examination but they blare with the prostate gland

Regional –
Stage III or C or T3: The tumors have gone further beyond the prostate capsule and can be visible in the seminal vesicle, found in the rear of the prostate.

T4: The tumor is evident in nearby muscles and organs.

“The grade of the tumor, together with the stage of cancer and the patient’s PSA level, enables doctors to determine what the best course of treatment is,” says Dr. Echt. “Your cancer doctor will want to find out whether you are facing any side effects. The good news is it’s possible to control most of these side effects.”
