No matter how busy Bailey Dixon is with any of her business ventures, she always schedules in her volunteer time with her few favorite charities. One of her most challenging volunteer activities has been her work as a “big sister” to a teenage girl. A friend of Bailey Dixon recommended the organization to her because she felt she would be such a positive role model to an underprivileged young lady.

“I immediately thought that it would be so much fun to be around a teenager. Then I remembered my teenage years and began to worry about what I was getting into!” Bailey Dixon said.

Bailey Dixon met her “little sister” at a diner with a representative of the program from the charity. The young woman sat sullenly in the corner of the table and would not make eye contact with Bailey Dixon. The representative acted as if it were totally normal so Bailey Dixon tried to act that way as well. When the meeting was over, the representative left the two to get acquainted.

“I began asking my new little sister questions and when she did not respond, I just kept talking out of nervousness. I realized I did not know how to relate to her age, her life, or her experiences. So, I started talking about myself instead. I figured if she was not ready to respond, I would just talk about my own life,” said Bailey Dixon.

This tactic ended up working quite well as time went on. When Bailey Dixon mentioned her work with ESPN, modeling and professional sports teams, her little sister started to become engaged. It took a few meetings to actually hear the young lady speak but when she did Bailey Dixon felt so much relief. She knew that she had done the right thing by getting involved with this charity and investing the time with her little sister.

“Bailey Dixon was so annoying at first. She just talked on and on about herself. But her life is really cool so I kind of liked hearing her talk. Now we do lots of stuff together and I really like hanging out with her,” said the young woman.
