Luke Buchanan is a Marketing and Operations Manager at Washington Fine Properties. He received his D.C. Real Estate Salesperson license April 15, 2013. By August of 2013, he has had his license for six months and has been a member of the American Marketing Association for one year.
Prior to starting his new career in the real estate industry, Luke Buchanan was previously employed as an Associate Strategist at Dentsu Advertising in Santa Monica, California. “Soon after I started at Dentsu, we lost a major client and a tumultuous acquisition ensued. It was not a good environment for somebody new to the professional world,” says Luke Buchanan.
As a communication’s major from Tulane University in New Orleans, Luke Buchanan was asked to work for the advertising firm after he graduated. “Naturally, I was honored to have an employer lined up,” says Luke Buchanan. Luke Buchanan says his time with the firm was not a waste of time. “Even in the brief time I was there I learned many things including how to market to people and really sell a product or service,” says Luke Buchanan.
Switching careers from advertising to real estate was easy for Luke Buchanan. He believes there are many skills that are transferable. “In real estate, you point out all the good things about a house. Marketing is about the positives and that is something I really enjoy doing in real estate,” says Luke Buchanan.
In just the six month period Luke Buchanan has been employed with Washington Fine Properties he can already tell he will be there for a while. “It is a great environment and everyone in the office supports each other,” says Luke Buchanan. The real estate company has also received local recognition for the many great realtors. Luke Buchanan believes he has found a company he can grow in. He is eager to further his career and aspires to become one of the company’s best salespeople.
Outside of work, Luke Buchanan works as a volunteer photographer for PetFinder.com and HispanicLink.org and maintains a personal blog at LukeBuchanan.com.
