Thanks to her deep appreciation for fly fishing, Geetha Madhuri Itty eagerly awaits the arrival of the summer months so that she can break out her tackle box and head for Iowa's streams. Geetha Madhuri Itty has enjoyed fly fishing since childhood, when she was first introduced to the sport by her grandfather. Because of her fishing expeditions as a young girl, Geetha Madhuri Itty grew fond of the sport and kept up her hobby, despite the accumulation of adult responsibilities.

For Geetha Madhuri Itty, fly fishing has always been a sure way to help bring serenity back into her life during stressful times. Geetha Madhuri Itty has relied on her hobby of fly fishing to help lift her spirits, just as her grandfather always did.

Geetha Madhuri Itty has recently reeled in her 500th fish from local Iowa streams. Preferring to fish locally, Geetha Madhuri Itty chooses to either drive or hike to a nearby creek or stream to begin her fishing adventure. Geetha Madhuri Itty had this to say about her recent accomplishment: “Since I started keeping count, over 10 years ago, I have successfully caught 500 fish. This is something I wasn’t sure I could accomplish, but just as with everything else, I receive support and encouragement from my grandfather, even though he has passed on.”

Part of the reason that Geetha Madhuri Itty continues to go fly fishing is to remember the wonderful experiences she had while spending time with her grandfather. Geetha Madhuri Itty recalls her grandfather as such: “He was just a kind and simple man; no matter what I was going through or how I was feeling, he always knew the right thing to say. He could get me through whatever was upsetting me.”

To this day, Geetha Madhuri Itty makes sure to visit her and her grandfather’s favorite fishing spot at least annually. Geetha Madhuri Itty plans to continue to go fly fishing whenever she is able. Because fishing is hobby she sometimes shares with her family, Geetha Madhuri Itty is looking forward to catching many more fish before she retires her rod and reel.
