During the 2006-2007 academic school year, Kurtis Gubnitsky was selected to play in the inaugural football season at the University School of Nova Southeastern University. Kurtis Gubnitsky has always excelled at athletics, and with this position on the football team, he added another sport to his roster. When asked about his place on the team, Kurtis Gubnitsky stated, “I was so excited to earn a spot on that team. I love all sports, and being able to play in the inaugural season on the football team was such an honor.”

An athlete by nature, Kurtis Gubnitsky has been playing sports since childhood. In kindergarten, Kurtis Gubnitsky began playing soccer. Kurtis Gubnitsky played with the Cooper City soccer team. Throughout his childhood and up until the 9th grade, Kurtis Gubnitsky played in many different soccer tournaments. Kurtis Gubnitsky competed in the AYSO REGION 644 and the Insects Div in 1999. In 2001-2002, Kurtis Gubnitsky played with Cooper City Optimist Cobra Soccer. Then, from 2002-2003, Kurtis Gubnitsky played with Cooper City Cobra Soccer. In the 2004-2005 Cooper City Optimist Boys Division, Kurtis Gubnitsky and his team placed first.

Kurtis Gubnitsky played on the junior varsity soccer team in both ninth and tenth grade at the University School of NSU. Along with soccer, Kurtis Gubnitsky enjoys many other sports. Kurtis Gubnitsky also ran on the varsity teams for both cross country and track and field. In addition, Kurtis Gubnitsky was on the lacrosse and football teams for both of their inaugural seasons. Finally, Kurtis Gubnitsky has also played basketball and flag football in the past.

From a young age, Kurtis Gubnitsky was encouraged to participate in sports. Not only are sports fun and a positive influence, but Kurtis Gubnitsky was also recognized as being very athletic in nature. Starting with his kindergarten soccer days, Kurtis Gubnitsky knew that he enjoyed participating in sports and that he could excel at them. Kurtis Gubnitsky has even acted as a coach for younger students at his school, which allowed him to combine his love of sports with his passion for working with children and being a positive influence in their lives.
