Laura Motes grew up in Georgia and had many interests as a child. She was always interested in law enforcement and knew that she would one day work in the field. She spent many years working in the law enforcement field before starting college. She learned a lot during her time in the field and is grateful for the training she received and the valuable skills she learned from her work there.

She graduated from Georgia Southern University in March 1992 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems. She then attended Military Police Officer Basic and graduated as the Honor Graduate in January 1993. After she graduated from police training, she was ready to go to work.

She was employed in law enforcement for 21 consecutive years at the Athens-Clarke County Police Department. During her time there she attended many training programs and has numerous certificates to show for her effort. She also worked for the Managed Medical Transport and Athens Regional Medical Center for 6 months before starting school.

Laura is currently a full-time student. She has taken all of the Nursing Prerequisites and has applied to get into the Master's program at Georgia Regents University. If she is accepted into the program, she will begin in the fall of 2016. She is looking forward to a new and rewarding career.

Although Laura Motes loved working in law enforcement, she has always been interested in healthy living. She works hard to stay active and healthy herself and encourages others to do the same. As a nurse, she would be able to help people improve their health. She hopes to complete her schooling quickly so she can begin working in the healthcare field.

While Laura Motes is currently busy with schooling, she still makes time for her favorite activities and hobbies. She enjoys adventure racing, gardening kayaking. She also loves animals and enjoy bird watching and helping with her local animal rescues. She is a dog owner and donates to the SPCA often. She hopes to continue her activities while also continuing her education.
