As a teenager Luke Buchanan was very involved in his community and had a heart for helping those less fortunate than himself. Now as an adult and business professional, nothing has changed. Luke Buchanan has worked with volunteer groups his entire life and now has a new inspiration to continue giving back – his employer.

In 2011 Luke Buchanan graduated from Tulane University and became a member of the university's alum association as well as the alum association of his fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Two years later he was officially awarded his Washington DC Real Estate Salesperson License and became a member of his current luxury real estate firm.

Between all of that, though, he was volunteering to educate underprivileged children, building homes, saving the environment from excessive carbon, and even helping pets to find new homes. Now the real estate firm Luke Buchanan is working for is supporting the Children's Hearing and Speech Center. They support a number of other causes, but this one is close to Luke Buchanan's heart. He worked with children while he was in high school at the Spanish Education Development Center, where he helped to provide kids with daycare.

“Volunteering and donating my time have always just been something that I love to do. I absolutely plan to do it for years to come,” said Luke Buchanan.

Every year the Center has a “Country Barbeque,” considered one of the best parties in the spring in DC, to raise money and awareness for children in need of speech and occupational therapy. According to Luke Buchanan, both types of therapy are very expensive and not all families have the money to get their children help. Since 2010 the Center has helped 10,000 children a year get the diagnostic care and therapy they need.

Luke Buchanan said, “I am so proud to be a part of a company with such a giving spirit. I have personally always enjoyed giving back to the community, and it is great to know that my employers feel the same way.”

Luke Buchanan looks forward to attending the barbeque with all the children and their families this spring, rain or shine.
