Stephen Souky is the coach for the Niskayuna Girls Travel Basketball Junior B team. They just finished their season with an undefeated record. Coach Stephen Souky is proud to have achieved such a great season. Their recent championship victory in the Capital District Girls Basketball League topped off their already amazing season. The team took the championship over the No. 2 overall, Albany, with a 56-31 final score. They also won in three other tournament opponents Schalmont, Guilderland and Saratoga Springs, respectively.

Coach Stephen Souky is proud of the remarkable improvement, tenacity and teamwork his team had demonstrated throughout the season. Completing an undefeated15-0 regular season record, makes this girls youth basketball team a standout and exceptional team of girls.

Stephen Souky is currently the President of Niskayuna and the AAU program. He has coached the team, who only two seasons ago barely finished above a .500 record, and has now become a powerhouse team on the court. His team displays a commitment to basketball fundamentals as well as a skill to work with one another towards a common goal. The team started out rocky with a weak first season. However, Niskayuna stuck to their commitment to work through these challenges, to learn and build the teamwork they needed to turn things around.

Stephen credits a focus on basketball technique and form, rather than strategic routes, for much of his team’s success which was something they worked on throughout each practice session. He helped develop their ball skills and basic basketball fundamentals giving them the tools and knowledge they needed to dominate the court. Stephen Souky says the team’s focus and technique were largely responsible for the hot streak of consecutive victories which allowed them to get to the recent tournament as the league’s top-seeded squad. Souky and his players are proud of the season they had and know that this will be a season they won’t forget. Souky will continue to coach and looks forward to another great team and a great season.
