Thea Jandzio and Issues Facing Social Workers

Posted July 15, 2015 by pzmediainc1

Thea Jandzio describes issues facing modern social workers. She is committed to the continuous improvement of service quality and agency performance.

Thea Jandzio is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York. She received her Master of Social Work from Fordham University and has more than twenty years of professional experience, many positions which she held as a Senior and Executive Administrator.
As she knows, there are increasingly complex issues facing social workers today. As a group, social workers are more aware than most people that children and families who live in poverty are facing bigger gaps in the social safety net. Social workers must work for the betterment of their clients, but also must advocate to local city and federal agencies to advocate for funding not to be cut, restricted and/or eliminated regarding programs that thousands of people depend on.

A core belief in social work is that all individuals are entitled to the same rights and services. And many social workers believe that they must be a voice for those groups who, through no fault of their own, are vulnerable to being disenfranchised.

Thea Jandzio is currently the Executive Program Director of Adult and Family Residential Services at the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services, the largest provider of mental health and social services in New York City. She is responsible for the overall clinical and administrative oversight of Adult and Family Residential Services, and provides leadership and direction to her staff.

Thea Jandzio spent eight years at Project Hospitality in Staten Island, a social services organization, where she was responsible for the operations and leadership of the Adult Services Division. During 2000 to 2003 she was a Contract Manager at Public Health Solutions HIV Care Services in New York, where she was the primary administrator to awardees who received Ryan White Title I Care Act Funding to provide HIV/AIDS services throughout the five boroughs of New York City. She supervised and monitored contracts awarded to large hospital systems, community based clinics, and nonprofit organizations, to ensure programmatic service delivery was in compliance with contract terms and service delivery was provided with optimal results.
