After years of being a competitive swimmer, Catharine Hardyman wanted to use her talents to help aspiring athletes. Recently, Catharine Hardyman became a United States Swimming Certified Swim Coach. Catharine Hardyman talked about her new title and her future plans for her swimming career, she stated, “I am excited to finally be a certified swim coach. After becoming the captain of my high school team and leading my teammates, I knew I had the natural ability to guide and coach others. I have been competing since the age of five—so I can offer personal insight from my experiences as a competitive swimmer. One of my gifts is being able to relate to others and effectively motivate them, which really helps with coaching.”

Catharine Hardyman hopes to help aspiring athletes launch their swimming careers. As for Catharine Hardyman’s personal career, she still plans to compete after high school. “After I graduate from high school I plan on competitively swimming in college. Although I will not have as much time to coach, I still would like to do it during my spare time. While in high school I learned effective time management, so I know I will be able to balance my school work with swimming and coaching.”

Catharine Hardyman is currently coaching a summer league and a year-round USA team. “It is such a fulfilling feeling to know you are helping athletes master a sport,” Catharine Hardyman stated. “I coach individuals who start as amateurs and I get to watch them transform into talented athletes. That is one of the best aspects of serving as a coach.” Catharine Hardyman will attend the 2013 World Swim Clinic in New Orleans this coming September.
