Eslam Ayoub, a former coach of youth rugby, provides both aspiring and experienced rugby coaches several tips on creating a more successful youth rugby organization.

Many are aware of the professional and business success of Eslam Ayoub, who has become one of the leading civil engineering professionals in the Midlothian area. Few, however, may not be aware of his success as a coach of a local youth rugby team, one that reached several championship games during a highly celebrated five year period.

Eslam Ayoub loves the game of rugby, and made a name for himself in the local rugby community as the successful leader of several youth rugby squads. Below, Eslam Ayoub shares some helpful advice to those seeking to build a more competitive, perhaps even championship worthy squad.
Lifting Strategy. In most countries, says Eslam Ayoub, lifting is not allowed for players 15 years of age or younger. Because of this restriction, Eslam Ayoub recommends several ways to improve your team’s lineout and jumping options

Put your tallest players at the front of the line. By strategically placing your tall players in the front positions, he says, you automatically give your squad a better opportunity to win the ball.

Create lineouts with only two players each. This strategy, says Eslam Ayoub, provides your squad a better opportunity to more effectively distribute the ball.

Emphasize both hard and flat throws. These types of throws, says Eslam Ayoub, are far more effective than lob throws, particularly at the youth rugby level.

Make Kicking Tactical

Work on your players kicking skill, particularly at the younger levels. Eslam Ayoub recommends having your kickers aim towards the corners from their own half

He also suggests having your players make attempts to kick towards the opposite team’s wingers, which tend to feature the less-skilled rugby players.

Eslam Ayoub was able to capitalize on both simple strategic rugby techniques to provide his former teams the best opportunities for victory. He believes that, win or lose, young rugby players are anxious to at least be competitive, and sometimes a simple change in technique or strategy can make this happen.

Eslam Ayoub is a former two time winner of Coach of the Year honors, and has earned much respect and admiration for his ability to get the most from each player and skillset.
