Michael Skodnick looks back on a successful career at a prominent grocery retailer.

Michael Skodnick still finds it hard to believe sometimes that he has been working at the Rego Park Trader Joe’s for five full years now. Time has flown by for the 27-year-old Michael Skodnick, who has cultivated a reputation at the grocer for being a hard worker and an extremely dependable person to have around. Michael Skodnick is now a familiar face to many Trader Joe’s customers, both those who have been shopping there for the last five years and those who are just beginning to shop there now. His great attitude and dedication to the job have made him a favorite both with his employers and his co-workers, and he has his share of fans among regular customers, as well. It’s all in a day’s work for Michael Skodnick – or, in this case, five years’ work.

“Yeah, it is pretty hard to believe that it’s been five years already,” Michael Skodnick says. “I guess when you find something you really like and are good at, you just don’t notice the time as much. I’m pretty proud of my work here, and of the reputation I’ve gotten as a hard worker. I wouldn’t trade that for anything.”

When he is not patrolling the aisles at Trader Joe’s, Michael Skodnick enjoys playing the guitar both alone and in bands. Michael Skodnick has been a member of several local bands, playing around town in Rego Park and the surrounding areas on the weekends. He enjoys being a musician as a counterpoint to his work life. “It’s good to have different sides to what you do,” Michael Skodnick says. “You can’t be just a grocery store employee or just a musician or just anything. You have to be more than that, or you’ll never be really satisfied. You’ll always wonder what else is out there.”

Michael Skodnick’s hard work and great attitude carry him through more than just his work life at Trader Joe’s. These traits are what make Michael Skodnick tick, and what make him such a good person to have around. Michael Skodnick wouldn’t be surprised if he spends five more years at Trader Joe’s.
