For over 35 years now, Niles Goodsite has been involved in the film and television industry. He has contributed to a wide range of projects including Pavarotti Plus and Married with Children. His responsibilities as a stage manager have grown over the years and helped him develop into something amazing. A stage manager’s responsibilities and duties vary depending on the production itself, but it was Niles Goodsite’s job to ensure that the choices of the director were being portrayed throughout the film.

During rehearsals, Niles Goodsite was adjacent to the director. He made sure that the lighting, sounds and set changed when cued and had to record the timing of each as it related to the script. He ensured that all cast members stayed on script, that the scene contained the right props, and that blocking was followed. Niles Goodsite also established rehearsal schedules and ensured that the production ran on time.

While working with Executive Producers Walter Mosley and Laurence Fishburne, Niles Goodsite was known for his great organizational skills and quick thinking, which allowed shows to keep running smoothly. During the productions of TV movie Always Outnumbered and the television show To Tell the Truth; Niles Goodsite managed technical and human aspects of the program. He coordinated the communications between all personnel while organizing the production.

Once the cameras started rolling, Niles Goodsite controlled all aspects of the performance. He called for all transitions between cues, acted as a communication hub for all cast members and was responsible for calling brush-up. Being able to remember all these responsibilities was not easy. Like other stage managers, Niles Goodsite maintained a Production Book, which contained all the information necessary for the production.

After about three decades in the business, Niles Goodsite had finally made a name for himself. In 2000, he took his unique set of skills and furthered his career as an assistant director. His time as a stage manager really helped him evolve and understand the ins and outs of the production world. He learned how to juggle multiple different responsibilities and ensured that everything was done in a timely manner. He was truly an inspiration and a key component to the stage management world.
