Brightening Up Buildings After a Wet Winter

Regency Cleaning offers professional cladding cleaning in London

It's been a long, wet winter and many buildings and warehouses in and around London still look under the weather. Any business looks unprofessional if the building is in a state of disrepair or just simply dirty. It's time to take advantage of the coming summer sun, spring clean and brighten up dull and dreary properties.

Aluminium cladding is a common exterior finish on warehouses, but it gets decidedly dirty with smog, soot, dust and emissions from delivery vans, cars and lorries. The good news is aluminium cladding can be cleaned, giving a warehouse or other building a complete makeover without the need for paint and painting services.

The difficulty with cleaning aluminium cladding is that without the appropriate equipment, a cleaner can simply smear the dirt rather than remove it, with the building looking worse rather than better at the end of a laborious process. Another issue is mould, moss and algae that accumulates over the wet winter months. This needs specialised treatment or it will be back before long.

Access is another challenge with cleaning aluminium cladding. Many warehouses and buildings finished with cladding are so large and so tall, regular equipment just won't reach where it needs to. Awkward access angles can also put the breaks on a cleaning project.

The good news is Regency Cleaning has cladding cleaning covered this summer.

“Claddings need to be cleaned, but it's a specialised job” says Alan Oliver, Director of Regency Cleaning. “I'm a Director, but also an IRATA Level 2 Abseiler. Height and awkward access is exactly what I love dealing with.” Lee Gladden, and IOSH Health and Safety trained Director and professional glass polisher agrees. “It's not easy to get the muck off, but that's what we do best,” she says.

Cladding on buildings up to 60 feet tall can be cleaned effectively using pole systems. For taller buildings, Regency Cleaning uses rope access (abseiling) or cherry pickers. “Cladding can be cleaned in much the same way as the windows. We use water fed pole systems and de-ionised water to clean cladding up to 60 feet from ground level safely and effectively,” says Gladden.

Algae, mould and moss need a more extreme approach. “We use a hydraulic platform and steam cleaning to get a hands-on deep clean,” says Gladden. “Using low pressure, high temperature Torik steam cleaning machines, we can reach temperatures up to 150 degrees Celsius, killing spores on contact and allowing a longer lasting clean.”

Oliver is the expert in awkward access cleaning. “We also provide cladding cleaning using rope access, which is particularly useful when working on buildings that are either too tall or possibly landlocked with awkward access,” he says. “Whichever method we have to use, we can assure you that your cladding will be cleaned to look like the building you first moved into.”

Regency Cleaning uses chemical free methods, preferring high pressure and steam cleaning to clean and sanitise the exterior or interior of any building. This prevents issues such as airway irritation or possible allergic reactions to strong cleaning chemicals, so work time won't be disrupted by safety issues. It's also kinder on the environment.

Regency Cleaning has teams of professional cladding cleaning experts who can operate anywhere in the UK. Oliver and Gladden are always keen to take on a challenge and are experienced in solving even the most serious cleaning conundrum. They undertake site visits to assess the state of the building, discuss solutions and provide quotations.

It's time to let the sunshine in and clean up that cladding!
