[SINGAPORE, 07/03/2016] – The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Volunteer Corps needs people who can and are willing to fulfil specific duties to aid in strengthening the national defence scheme. The SAF Volunteer Corps’s military operations involve logistics, research, technology and overall behind-the-scenes work.
Defining Important Roles
Information technology – The SAF requires teams of people that specialise in the areas of satellite and radio communication networks. Labelled as C4 (command, control, communications and computers) experts, these IT-centric volunteers are responsible in supporting planning drives, and recommendations on the best practices and technologies to the high command.
Engineering – The SAF Volunteer Corps needs the expertise of engineers to oversee all related assets and ensure that each is in tip-top condition.
Airbase civil engineers, naval combat/platform engineers, naval safety engineers—every person who specialises in the field is welcome to contribute.
Medical Trainers – The SAF Volunteer Corps is searching for people who can fulfil the requirements of five major roles: doctor, nurse, dentist, radiographer and medical technologist.
Naval Operatives – Specifically, the SAF is in need of someone to fulfil the role of a bridge watchkeeper. This person is in charge of performing navigational tasks on-board Landing Ship Tanks (LSTs).
Defence Psychologist – Experienced psychologists and honour psychology graduates alike are welcome to serve in the SAF Volunteer Corps. Command is in need of someone to aid in the development and implementation of specific Psychological Defence capabilities, as well as provide comprehensive psychology support along a peace to war continuum.
