McLean, Va. (October 6, 2022) – The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) presents a “Bite of Science,” a free webinar that illustrates the interdisciplinary nature of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and the real-world applications of STEM skills. Join us on an exploration of how STEM topics and skills intersect with our modern lives. This virtual program takes place on Thursday, October 6, 2022, 5:00-6:15 p.m. ET via Zoom. Distinguished speakers:

Adi Karisik is Global Technology Leader for Operational Technology/Cybersecurity at Jacobs Engineering. He earned a BA in Business and an MBA, both from Southeastern Louisiana University. Adi Karisik has over 20 years of highly specialized professional experience, one that covers information technology, cyber security, management consulting, intelligence consulting as well as providing specialized services in the Defense and Intelligence domain.

Kelli Recher is Program Lead, Corporate Social Responsibility at Tata Consultancy Services. Kelli graduated from Penn State University with a BS in Education. She brings her 18 years of teaching experience as a middle school science educator to her role with TCS. She has represented Ignite My Future as a Learning Leader with her former school district and at local and national conferences.

Evan Wong is a Senior Optomechanical Engineer at Lockheed Martin. He earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado School of Mines, and a master’s degree in Systems Engineering from Cornell University. Lockheed Martin is an American aerospace, arms, defense, information security, and technology corporation. His work is multidisciplinary, working with distinct functions such as sourcing and contracts to keep programs on track.

Moderator:

The distinguished speakers will be introduced by Travis Williams, manager of CEE’s Teacher Enrichment Program (TEP). He recently served as a continuous improvement coach at Spartansburg School District 7 in Spartansburg, South Carolina, and served as a science teacher in Arlington, Virginia. Travis earned a bachelor’s degree in science teacher education and an MS degree in educational leadership and administration from Western Governors University.
