FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Houston, Texas (May 01, 2015) – A new fund-raising campaign has been launched in connection with National Physical Fitness and Sports Month in May to raise awareness about better fitness and nutrition in low-income communities in Houston, New Orleans and Atlanta.

The Indiegogo.com campaign is called “100 Fitness Fanatics for Underserved Communities” and is a fitness training workshop and healthy cooking demonstration for 100 fitness enthusiasts from communities where annual household income is about $25,000. Darryl Ewing, author of Back in the Saddle to Fit: 10 Steps to Reclaiming Athletic Fitness for the Busy Professional, developed the workshops based on the principles of the book.

This is a customized crowd-funding initiative, which will be live on the web for another 40 days. Ewing chose underserved communities, because research shows that these communities usually suffer from increased stress, pain, worry, sadness and anger, and many other ailments, as an outcome of their poorer health conditions.

This crowd-funding campaign is designed to allow 100 fitness fanatics to attend the workshops, which would take place in Houston, New Orleans and Atlanta in late June and July. Contributions would allow all training materials and the healthy lunch demonstration to remain free. The Fitness Fanatics would then take the information they learned and share it with their own fitness groups and communities. This workshop also would give the 100 Fitness Fanatics experience of designing an adult boot camp program, and they would receive a demo video, training manual and much more.

Contributors to the campaign will receive great perks. The level of the perk depends on the level of contribution. You can start to support this initiative by donating a nominal amount of just $5. Contributors will receive workout gear, T-shirts, backpacks and even an autographed copy of the book at higher levels of donation up to $250 or more.
