Seoul, South Korea (July 20, 2016) - MAVC design, a South Korean toy developing studio, this week officially launched a Kickstarter campaign for garnering widespread support and financial backing for PIXU™, a Limited-Edition art project from renowned artist Jaebum Joo, which aims to immortalize fans, their loved ones, or even celebrities in 8-BIT fashion.

PIXU is an 8-bit pixel art project that is designed to transform standard portraits into a tangible and eternal works of 8-BIT art. The project features renowned pixel artist, Jaebum Joo, who has been creating 8-bit pixel portrait art since 2010. Currently, Joo has created six masterpieces in 8BIT version; Van Gogh’s ‘Starry Night’, Picasso’s ‘The dream’, Munch’s Scream, Leonardo da Vinci’s ‘Mona Lisa’, Monet’s ‘Woman with a parasol’ and Vermeer’s ‘Girl with a Pearl Earring’

“We use super-fast wireless networks while we get caught in traffic jams. Subway lines are getting tangled more and more, and our smartphone cameras are getting better resolution lenses every year. All of these have brought a total convenience to our lives including mine, but my life is now too complicated because of them.” Said the MAVC team project creator . “All of us sometimes want to look at our lives in a simple way so that PIXU starts to interpret this world with 8-bit nano bricks.”

PIXU™ purchasers will have their portrait, or their loved ones or favorite celebrity personally drawn by Pixel Artist Jaebum Joo. Next, purchasers are provided a Do-It-Yourself kit, which includes an 8-BIT portrait brick set, as well as all the materials and tools needed to assemble their personalized masterpiece.

All ‘Backers’ of the Kickstarter campaign will receive ‘Rewards’ ranging from their own 8-bit pixel portrait plus 1 PIXU set of the 6 different masterpiece paintings for a pledge $24 or more, to receiving all of the 6 masterpiece brick packs for a pledge of $175 or more. As all work is done by hand, only a limited 550 people will be able to participate in this Kickstarter project.

The Kickstarter campaign is officially open until August 17, 2016.
