RPost, the pioneer of Registered Email services, has secured a major patent (USPTO 8,161,104) covering the tracking of email openings via embedded web links—technology widely used by digital marketers and online platforms. With this patent, RPost now holds a commanding position in email analytics and plans to license the innovation to tens of thousands of email marketers, social networks, and cloud businesses. The company also announced its intention to aggressively enforce its intellectual property rights against any organizations using the method without a license.
According to CEO Zafar Khan, the patented technology has been in development since 1999 and forms the foundation of RPost’s Registered Email services. The patent covers techniques now common across platforms that collectively track over 40 billion messages annually. In line with its history of defending its innovations, RPost previously filed lawsuits against major entities like Adobe Echosign and DocuSign for similar patent infringements, and it signals a renewed wave of enforcement under this newly granted patent.
