Sean Patrick McVay takes part in recreational fishing and is proud to have caught his largest Largemouth Bass in winter of 2012.

Sean Patrick McVay enjoys a number of recreational past-times. Besides hiking and camping, one of the outdoor hobbies he enjoys the most is bass fishing. Bass is just one of several fish he likes to fish but like many Americans, a lot of challenge can be found in bass fishing.

If you are a fan of bass fishing, nowhere is better than central Florida where bass fishing season is year round. "Florida is proud to call themselves the 'Bass Fishing Capital of the World' because of the popularity and record weight of bass caught there," says Sean Patrick McVay. It was what drove him to take the trip to Florida to catch his own record best.

Sure enough, the winter of 2012, ended up being the year of a record catch for Sean Patrick McVay. After days casting his line, he ended up catching his biggest largemouth bass. "It was the longest Largemouth Bass I've ever caught. It was 19" long," says Sean Patrick McVay. Although it isn't the largest fish ever caught in Florida, it was a personal record Sean Patrick McVay could be proud of.

"I thought about keeping the fish and maybe having it mounted. But I know somewhere at some point in time I'll probably catch a bigger one. I don't see a point in paying to mount this fish if I'll probably just catch a larger one next year," says Sean Patrick McVay. While it is always possible the 19" Largemouth Bass will be the largest Sean Patrick McVay will ever catch, he holds no regrets about putting back.

"I've got lots of years ahead of me to try for a bigger fish. You read forums all the time of people mounting their 22" or larger. So I'm confident I made the right decision. It gives me something to work for the next time I go fishing," says Sean Patrick McVay. Bass fishing isn't the limit to Sean Patrick McVay's time as a recreational fisherman. There have been a few times he's headed north to go Walleye fishing. However, it is bass fishing that Sean Patrick McVay truly enjoys.
