Landscape Gardeners in Glasgow Offer Free Advice & Consultation

A well respected firm of landscape gardeners in Glasgow are currently offering a free consultation session and are also happy to offer the following general advice to the unwary when considering appointing a garden design contractor.

Jonathan Crossan, owner of Exteria Landscapes who specialise in garden design in Glasgow, Scotland sets out the following information you should always have in your possession prior to appointing a garden contractor :

Get references – quite simply, any landscape gardener of any merit will have a portfolio of completed work for you to look over. Get phone numbers of previous clients, or better still, visit the completed projects in person.

Qualifications – good professional garden designers will usually be well qualified. Check out claims to be horticulturalists, and make sure you see the original certification

Guarantees – Make sure a written guarantee is in place for all proposed work. A minimum timescale for the length of the guarantee should also be included.

Insurance – Professional landscape gardening companies will have all the necessary insurance certification in place. This is an industry with a poor record for accidents, so it will be up to you to make sure you check this area thoroughly. No insurance ? – walk away .

Planning – make sure that a proper plan is drawn up, agreeing costs and timescales. For larger projects, good contractors will be happy to accept a retention figure on the job.
