Jewish Family Services of Delaware (JFS Delaware) has announced a series of groundbreaking programs aimed at supporting and empowering families throughout the Wilmington area. These new initiatives are part of the organization’s continued commitment to addressing the evolving needs of local communities through compassionate care, education, and accessible resources.
As Wilmington families face growing challenges related to mental health, financial stability, and community integration, JFS Delaware is responding with a multifaceted approach. The newly unveiled programs include:
• Family Resilience Workshops: A structured series of sessions offering tools and strategies to navigate family stress, conflict resolution, and parenting in today’s complex social environment.
• Youth Empowerment Counseling Services: Specialized counseling tailored for children and teens dealing with anxiety, depression, or trauma, delivered by licensed professionals trained in adolescent development.
• Career Coaching and Financial Literacy Classes: Designed to strengthen economic independence, these classes provide practical job-seeking guidance, résumé building, budgeting techniques, and long-term financial planning.
• Community Inclusion and Cultural Connection Initiatives: Programs aimed at fostering a sense of belonging for immigrant and minority families, featuring cultural exchange events, language support, and community mentorship.

Each initiative was developed in collaboration with local educators, healthcare providers, and community leaders to ensure culturally competent, evidence-based support. Services will be offered both in-person at JFS Delaware’s Wilmington office and virtually to ensure accessibility for families across New Castle County.
Initial community response has been overwhelmingly positive, with parents, teachers, and social workers highlighting the urgent need for these kinds of family-focused services. JFS Delaware plans to continue expanding its partnerships with local schools, faith organizations, and social service agencies to broaden its impact.
