A small family firm located just outside of Florence creates our best-selling line of Italian silk and wool accessories.

We have worked successfully with this devoted family of designers and artisans for more than ten years, in large part because of our shared appreciation for high-quality textiles, classic designs, and Italian cuisine and wine.

They purchase the merino wool and silk materials from Como, Italy's weaving factories and print shops. Since the mediaeval times, Como has been producing silk and wool because of the region's abundant water supply and the availability of mulberry leaves, the silkworm's primary feeding source. For decades, this region has been known for its silk printing and jacquard weaving, generating genuinely outstanding fabric that is used by some of the finest design firms in the world.

The owner of the Florentine family firm, Massimo, personally selects the fabrics and prints for manufacturing at his Tuscan studio, which is tucked between the banks of the Arno and the gently sloping hills of Chianti Rufino, during each season's travels to these mills.

A crucial step in the process, hand-cutting the fabric guarantees that our designs stand out from mass-produced, machine-made accessories. To maintain quality control, Massimo personally performs and monitors this stage.

Massimo and his group lay out and cut the materials and linings for our ties utilizing only a rotary cutter. The tie is then hand-sewn together using the fabric and lining.

A ruler and sharp scissors are used to cut out the appropriate design on scarves and pocket squares, which is then finished by hand sewing and, on some designs, adding handcrafted fringe. Massimo takes the highest care and attention to detail in the creation of each accessory.
