BELLEVUE, WA – July 28, 2023 – Seattle Marriott Bellevue was proud to celebrate National Root Beer Float Day, in honor of its founders, J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott, and their humble beginnings in the hospitality industry.

The Marriott family embarked on their entrepreneurial journey by starting a 9-seat A&W Root Beer stand in Washington, D.C., as a means to cool off from the scorching summer heat. This small venture laid the foundation for Marriott's incredible growth and eventual leadership in the hospitality industry.

To commemorate the Marriott family's history and lasting legacy, Seattle Marriott Bellevue hosted Root Beer Float socials on July 28th at the hotel’s front lawn. This initiative served a dual purpose – to pay homage to Marriott's roots while also making a positive impact on the local hospital of Seattle Children’s Hospital.

As part of this year's National Root Beer Float Day celebration, Seattle Marriott Bellevue was thrilled to have both guests and locals to join in the festivities.

On July 28, 2023, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, Seattle Marriott Bellevue hosted a Root Beer Float social in its beautiful courtyard. Guests enjoyed the refreshing combination of rich root beer and creamy vanilla ice cream while mingling with fellow attendees.
