These packs are filled with molecular sieve beads, clay and activated carbon desiccants, indicating type and non-indicating type silica gel. Pillow packs are packaging in Tyvek™ material which is approved by USFDA standard. They are packaged in two kinds of containers, that is one gallon can or 10 gallon can. These desiccant pouches are also use for dehumidifier process using molecular sieve and silica gel packets. Desiccant pillow pack consists of a wide variety of sizes, configurations and substrates. Sorbead India offers pillow pak in strips in roll and unique packets in bulk quantity for mortification (two in one) package with long term result for moisture protection.
These pack get there moisture absorbing ability due to the fact that they are filled with molecular sieves or beads. The beads have micro-porous structure that has interlocking cavity that results in high surface area. Water remains on the surface of the beads due to the inherent property of low vapor density. When ultimate state of equilibrium is attached, the process of adsorption by these beads gets stopped. This state is basically attained when the vapor pressure of the surface and the surroundings gets equal. The similar is the case with the molecular sieves. The moisture absorbing quality in them is bought by the intricate network of pores and also empty cavities in which moisture can be absorbed. These packs are basically made of Tyvek paper that is melfit non-woven. These packs are clear view such that we are able to view the color change quite easily if we are using indicative type of silica beads. These packs also have regenerative capability and have a shelf life of minimum 2 years if they are stored properly in air-tight and moisture free conditions.
