TEDxVBIT Season 4 | 2022
TED is a non-profit organization devoted to "Ideas Worth Spreading". TED started as
Technology, Entertainment, and Design merged about 30 years ago but now covers all topics in
100 different languages. From Bill Gates to Sir Richard Branson and Greta Thunberg to Ngozi
Okonjo-Iweala, everyone graced the event as speakers and spoke on numerous subjects. TED's
initiatives include TED.com, TEDx, TED-Ed, and an annual TED prize, where exceptional
individuals who wish to change the world get help translating their wishes into actions.
Hyderabad, just like its Irani chai, is the perfect blend of conventional and rapid modernization.
Home to a rapidly developing IT sector and the diverse Deccani culture, Hyderabad is the
ultimate brewing pot for confounding stories, experiences, and ideas ready to be explored and
shared. Hence VBIT has taken the initiative, and TEDxVBIT came into existence. Since its
inception, TEDxVBIT has been among the premier TEDx experiences in Hyderabad, rendering
the best speakers with life-changing stories and revolutionary ideas on one platform.
The idea, Shatter the Filters' central element, is for the audience to break through the walls they
have built for themselves. We often find ourselves in a filter bubble any time we're only
surrounded by views and opinions the society agrees with, while being sheltered from opposing
and out of the norm perspectives. The majority of us are conditioned to look at things in either
positive or negative light. This ultimately leads to people perceiving things with a pre-existing
notion and thus never truly acknowledging the reality. Moreover, this additional filter does not
end there. It goes on when a person is presenting themselves.
Based on the judgment, they mould themselves into someone they aren’t by adding this filter
based on the opinion that exists in society. However, this merely leads to a loss of authenticity,
making everything nothing more than a sham. The ideal purpose of this theme is to compel the
listeners to realize that there is no need for a filter. Voicing out our beliefs without holding back
is one of the necessary antidotes to shatter the repression to find our freedom and our
individuality. The real personality and real-world is what matters, in the end, and not a
sketched-out scheme.
TEDxVBIT Season 4 has gone a step further and decided to bring forth multiple Salon events
for the students to have a better experience and gain various insights from some of the most
notable TED Talks existing. At a TEDxVBIT salon, attendees watch TED Talks, sometimes host
a few speakers and have informal discussions about the talks they witnessed. Salons re-engage
your community and team during the time between your main TEDx events, and spark
discussion on issues of interest to your local community.
TEDxVBIT is all geared up to host a new season with an exciting addition of the Salon events to
bring the audience simplified and authentic stories shared with charismatic eloquence from
bright minds who do remarkable things and have ideas which are worth spreading.
