Leak Detection- an important security measure!

In order to transport gas and other fluid products for both home as well as commercial consumption, pipelines are the most cost effective way.

This method of transporting gas and fluids is not only very innovative but also convenient and safe method of transportation. Especially gases that need to be transported for long distances, this method seems to be most feasible. For these pipelines, monitoring flow and leakages is very essential as it can be very dangerous from financial as well as health point of view. To avoid any sort of catastrophic incident is one of the primordial priorities. Certain Leak Detection System (LDS) are therefore used by many organizations that use gas lines for their very working as it is a matter of security and safety.
The function of LDS is to basically help in the detection of leaks from the pipelines. Leaks can be in the form of fluids or gas. A strict check is thus needed and this is the safest way possible to protect the pipelines from leaking. To test the pipeline for leaks certain infrared radiometry is used. Internal and external are two types of testing that is generally used for detecting leaks. By designing the pipelines in such a way that a few sensors are placed inside the pipelines the internal check is maintained. Any irregularities are detected by these sensors and they immediately send a monitoring message back to the tracker. The tracker in its turn keeps an update on the pipeline condition.
On the other hand, external detectors are used to detect very fast moving aerosol cans on the conveyors and are commonly used to detect leaks in manufacturing industries.
