Mark Spain Real Estate, located in Franklin and serving greater Nashville, is the presenting sponsor of the Nashville Rescue Mission fundraiser for the third straight year. The goal is to raise enough money in 14 hours to serve over 44,000 meals.

The Nashville Rescue Mission and Mark Spain Real Estate share the common goal of feeding thousands of greater Nashville residents during the holiday season and throughout the year. The Hunger to Hope Radiothon’s goal is to raise enough money in 14 hours of radio broadcasting to be the equivalent of at least 44,000 meals.

The Radiothon event is taking place Monday, November 22, from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. CST on SuperTalk 99.7 WTN. The Nashville radio station will broadcast live from the Nashville Rescue Mission, located in the old Sears building on Lafayette Street and 7th.

“It’s been a tough year for many families, especially with the rising cost of food, rent, retail items and gasoline,” said Chairman and CEO Mark Spain. “One of our core values at Mark Spain Real Estate is to lead with a servant’s heart. The Nashville Rescue Mission really exemplifies this with its tireless, year-round effort to provide a number of services and necessities to Nashville residents in need.”

The Nashville Rescue Mission is a faith-based organization making a profound difference to the area’s homeless men, women and children in all areas of their lives—physical and emotional needs, spiritual growth, education, employment and life recovery. In 2020 the Nashville Rescue Mission served nearly 425,000 meals and provided 212,379 nights of shelter.

Costs for the mission have also gone up in 2021—mainly due indirectly to COVID—with increased facility cleaning costs, more employee overtime expenses due to employee absences to quarantine, and an increase in purchasing more food when surplus donations from area hotels shrank. The Mission has also started construction on an improved and larger campus for women and children so it can provide more beds and additional family rooms to meet area demand.

Founded in 1954, the Nashville Rescue Mission has evolved and grown through the decades to better serve the needs of the greater Nashville community. It began by helping men of the community and, in 1968, opened a separate facility to assist women and children. The Nashville Rescue Mission services have expanded to include emergency resources, transitional housing, job training programs, counseling, life skills and Bible classes, as well as help with addiction and other life-debilitating issues.

The Nashville Rescue Mission estimates providing a single meal costs $2.26. For less than a $10 donation, a family of four can enjoy a hot meal. Its goal is to raise enough funding during the 14-hour Radiothon to serve over 44,000 meals. The Mission has partnered with SuperTalk 99.7 WTN to host the 14-hour, on air fundraising event.

Mark Spain Real Estate, with an office located in Franklin that serves greater Nashville, has proudly returned as the presenting sponsor for a third year in a row. With 2020 sales growth of more than 163% in greater Nashville over the previous year and a 100% growth in its agent team, Mark Spain Real Estate continues to actively expand its local real estate team as well as its involvement in giving back to the local communities it serves.
