Malaysia has upgraded its visa policies and launched visa-free entry for 134 countries. This important step will enhance tourism and business travel. Under this initiative, Malaysia aims to draw 35.6 million visitors by 2026.
The visa-free policy allows citizens of various countries to visit the country without applying for a Malaysia visa. Last year, Malaysia joined the Thailand and Sri Lanka league to grant 30-day visa-free entry for Indian and Chinese citizens. The announcement made by the Prime Minister declares that this new policy is part of the country's ongoing efforts to attract more international visitors and strengthen its position as a top travel destination in Southeast Asia.
A Strategic Way to Boost Tourism
Malaysia's Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture announced the visa-free initiative, highlighting its potential to boost tourism significantly. "This policy reflects Malaysia's commitment to inviting the world with open arms. By easing entry procedures, we aim to make Malaysia the destination of choice for travelers worldwide, contributing to our economy and cultural growth.”
Introducing visa-free entry is expected to increase tourist footfall, mainly from Europe, North America, and Asia. The government expects a substantial increase in visitors in the coming months, which will benefit local businesses, hotels, and all aspects of the tourism ecosystem. This new policy will streamline the process for travelers seeking a Malaysia visa from Dubai, making it easier for them to explore the country's varied attractions and activities.
Promoting Malaysia’s Attractions and Heritage
With this new policy, Malaysia is determined to bring its diverse cultural heritage, natural beauty, and distinctive attractions to a larger audience. From the iconic Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur to the turquoise beaches of Langkawi and the long history of Penang, Malaysia offers a wide range of experiences for travelers.
Besides leisure tourism, Malaysia also focuses on attracting business travelers and investors by promoting its beautiful location, well-built infrastructure, and supportive business environment.
A Positive Impact on the Economy
The visa-free entry initiative is expected to empower Malaysia's economy, generating increased revenue from tourism and relevant sectors. It aligns with the government's broader economic goals and its strategy to position Malaysia as a global hub for tourism and investment.
Some of the countries that are approved of 90-day visa-free entry are Argentina, Albania, Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Oman, Saudi Arabia, San Marino, Qatar, Jordan, New Zealand, Canada, Australia, Uruguay, Hong Kong, all European Union member states, Switzerland, South Africa, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Austria, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Portugal, Czech Republic, and Poland. Citizens of Iran, Libya, and those with Macao Special Administrative Region Travel Permits are eligible for a 14-day visa-free visit.
