Clearwater, FL – On Saturday, May 3rd, volunteers gathered at the Clearwater Community Volunteers (CCV) Center for a Charity Tea Party, benefiting the local nonprofit, Mothers of Minors (M.O.M.) Inc. Guests brought donations of baby clothes, diapers, bassinets, stuffed animals and cribs to support the struggling parents M.O.M. Inc. serves. Approximately 100 items were collected which will in turn support 25 parents in need.
M.O.M. Inc. was founded in 2014 by Andrea Clark, a single mother of four. “When I was a single parent raising my kids, I was told that I made ‘too much money’ to qualify for support,” said Clark. “That is why I started Mothers of Minors – to help fill the gap for those in need of assistance who weren’t being helped otherwise.”
The guests mingled over tea and scones while learning about M.O.M. Inc. from Clark. They got a chance to ask questions and learned more ways to help, such as attending upcoming M.O.M. Inc. events and donating funds towards the mission.
A report from United Way Suncoast stated that in 2022, 78% of female-single-parent homes and 61% of male-single-parent homes were below the ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) threshold in Florida. This translates into the children struggling to get proper meals and nutrition when away from school, educational issues, and in some cases, housing instability.
“Through M.O.M. Inc.’s efforts, single parents are more able to handle the challenges of raising a child,” said Tracy Hawkins, director of the center. “That is important to me and my volunteers and we are happy to support Andrea in her mission. As humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard said, ‘A community that pulls together can make a better society for all.’”
The CCV Center, sponsored by the Church of Scientology Flag Service Organization, hosts charity tea parties regularly for local nonprofits such as Safe Paws Rescue, the Bay Area Pregnancy Center and the Alpha House of Pinellas. The next Charity Tea Party is on July 19th, 2025 at 3:00pm benefiting Community Action Stops Abuse (CASA). To RSVP, please email
