After allegations of celebratory gunfire during cricketer Ravindra Jadeja's wedding in April this year in Rajkot, yet another controversy related to the event has surfaced. The all-rounder's sister, Naina Jadeja, has filed a complaint of cheating against Ahmedabad-based event management company that was roped in to make arrangements for the wedding, and which was later fired over "bad service".

Naina Jadeja has said in her complaint that the company, Absolute Events, was yet to return part of an advance payment of Rs 6 lakh. The Rajkot Taluka police have lodged the complaint and initiated investigation in the case.

"As per the complainant, Absolute Events was hired for Rs 11lakh to plan Jadeja's wedding at Jaddu's Food Field in Rajkot where all the functions were organised. The company was reportedly paid Rs 6 lakh as advance amount. However, during the pre-wedding ceremonies, the family felt the event management company was not delivering as per their requirements and relieved them of the job," a source said.

After the wedding, Naina said that she contacted the company for a refund but the owner, Kaival Patel, and his associates Shyam Trivedi and Urvi Babaria threatened Naina and refused to return the money.

Naina told Mirror that the company had caused her family a lot of anguish. "We had to switch to the services of a local event management company at the last minute. After the wedding, I contacted Absolute Events to discuss return of the advance payment of Rs 6 lakh but they threatened me. In fact, Kaival Patel switched off his mobile phone," Naina said.

While Kaival Patel was not available for comment, the Rajkot Rural Police sub-inspector, KJ Chauhan, who is also investigation officer in the case, said, "We have admitted a case of cheating against the company and received bank transaction details from the complainant. The team will visit Ahmedabad for investigation."
