Serving the Delta Police Department from 1993, Varun Naidu served at multiple positions and gained expertise in operational policing. Starting with the patrol division, he responded to the calls for service as well as conducted investigations and problem solving initiatives to address community concerns. He got the opportunity to supervise the constables and provide guidance and leadership on all investigative and operational matters.

Thereafter, Varun became the part of Emergency Response Team that conducted high risk operations that fell outside the skills, knowledge, and abilities of regular members such as warrant service, barricaded persons, and hostage rescue. He was selected as the Team Leader of the Emergency Response Team where he supervised all tactical operations and coordinated training.

As the part of Criminal Investigation Branch, Varun Naidu conducted drug and major crime investigations utilizing the principles of major case management. He served the role of primary investigator and life coordinator in files including marijuana grows operations, homicides, and other violent offences.

In 2007, Varun supervised seven constables in the areas of drug investigation as the Sergeant Delta Police Drug Section. It included indoor marijuana grow operations and drug trafficking. Being the supervisor, he provided an oversight on all the investigations and developed strategies within my team to reduce the impact of drugs in the community through education, enforcement, and community partnership. As the sergeant, he supervised all the administrative matters, and managed an annual budget of $932,000 that included wages and benefits.

Varun learned a lot and gained various skills right from his journey as Staff Sergeant Watch Commander to Inspector Strategic Services Branch in 2017 where he conducted reviews and coordinated projects for the department. He also oversaw the Emergency Management Section and the Victim Services Unit.

Regarding his education credentials, Varun Naidu graduated from the University of British Columbia with Bachelor of Education. Pertaining to the awards he has received, he won the Oliver Thompson Memorial Award at the Police Academy.

Being the part of Delta Police Department, Varun Naidu has been the inspector in charge of Operational Support Branch where he managed Traffic Section, Vulnerable Sector, Community Policing, Victim Services, Community Relations and School Liaison Units. It was his responsibility to ensure that the Operational Support Branch was adequately resourced and managed.
