Vishal Lamba Reflects on His Professional Career

Vishal Lamba had the privilege to enjoy many different professional environments. He reflects on his career, hoping that it will hold many more challenges.

 
Vishal Lamba started his professional career more than 20 years ago, in 1993. After obtaining a Master’s degree, he earned a fellowship at the Department of Biochemistry, in the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education. The new role brought many challenges, and he became valuable assets of the hospital, and someone who was popular among his colleagues, superiors alike.

The hard work that he displayed for more than three years earned him an even better opportunity at the same institution, as the senior research fellow. He was in that role for, earning valuable experience during the process. In 2001, he moved to America to fill in a similar position at the Memphis-based St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, where he would become a senior research technologist with increasing duties and responsibilities.

Vishal Lamba was in that role for two very successful years, but then he wanted to look for new challenges, and he was highly successful in attaining highest education with the Ph.D degree with numerous publications in high impact journals as additional feathers in his cap. After completing hid Ph.D with flying colors Dr. Lamba moved as the research associate at University of Minnesota, Minneapolis in the department of Genetics Cell Biology and Development, he found there everything he needed to take on a role that would require him to stay at the university for years.

Since he was satisfied with the challenges that the university provided for him, he once again found his true calling, doing research and helping people whenever an opportunity arose. After two successful years, he was promoted to assistant professor in the Department of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology within College of Pharmacy at the University of Minnesota. College of Pharmacy at University of Minnesota is ranked 2nd in the nation. Another successful three-year tenure followed, and then he decided to go to Gainesville, Florida, as the new assistant professor within Department of Pharmacotherapy and Translational Research, in College of Pharmacy at University of Florida, Gainesville.

In Florida, he learned numerous valuable skills, including various new research tactics and methods, which were useful to him during his challenging role as a researcher. Despite the difficulty of his journey, he had an even more successful tenure track doing pharmacotherapy and translational research, making the College of Pharmacy and the University of Florida better during the process.
