Will Houghton Ashburnham earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Miami University in 1979, graduating Magma Cum Laude. He attended Smith College in Northampton in the next two years, earning a Masters of Education degree that allowed him to pursue his lifelong dream of teaching. He had various teaching jobs in prominent institutions after that, including Harding Junior High School and Stowe School where he taught science and math. In addition to his impressive skills as a teacher, Will Houghton of Ashburnham is also an experienced EMT professional who knows and understands the dangers of the wilderness.

It is an entirely different experience compared to the urban areas, and that is the main reason why even highly qualified and experienced emergency medical technicians are interested in hearing about Mountain Medicine Education. The organization was founded in 1978 by a group of healthcare professionals who witnessed just how hard it is to provide quality services in an entirely different, and often extremely cruel environment.
